some places are magic. there’s a common idiom that says “make yourself at home.” that’s used quite often to welcome guests, and it’s how i feel every time i get the opportunity to photograph a wedding or event at the Black Bass Hotel. just up the road from New Hope and Lambertville along the Delaware River, i’ve had the great pleasure of photographing in this beautiful setting a number of times. joyfully for most of those occasions, i’ve had Fiona as my guide and colleague to all things wedding and hospitality at the Black Bass.
Fiona (along with the rest of the amazing staff at the hotel) are charged with not only helping to make other couple’s wedding dreams come true, but with helping people to feel at home during their stays there. so it was an incredible honor to me, that i got to return the favor as her and Eric’s wedding photographer. these two are some of the kindest, funniest, and warmest people you could meet, and that was evidenced by the number of family and friends who filled the Black Bass with their love and support for these two. it was a special place to them not only because it’s where Fiona works, but also because it’s on the bridge outside where Eric proposed. it’s a site full of history, significance, and meaning to so many people including this wedding photographer. it’s a place that always makes you feel at home, and just like the love that Eric and Fiona found, there’s something a little bit magical about that.
