when Jenna and Ryan first proposed engagement photos at the beach, i don’t think this is what any of us had in mind.
having rescheduled already once before (the first time due to snow) Ryan and Jenna and i looked with trepidation at the weeks-long weather forecasts of impending cold, wind, and rain that would come to the Jersey Shore not only on the day we had picked to shoot, but the days before and after it as well. having taken a day off from work in order to get their engagement photos done before their wedding this summer, we decided to make the best of a bad weather situation and move forward with courage and enthusiasm.
let me tell you– it was cold!! it was cold, it was wet, it was extremely windy, and the photos we had hoped to take on the beaches of Asbury Park or Ocean Gove were made impossible without sand blowing into our eyes, into our hair, and into our beards (well, Ryan’s and my beards anyways). it was not ideal– but we were. we didn’t let the elements stop us, but rather we explored other hidden parts of Asbury Park where the wind couldn’t cut so hard. we laughed about the random encounters we had along the way, like 1980s balcony scenes or the carvings on a picnic table by somebody who calls herself “Fat Cara”. we drank coffee and danced and walked away with beautiful engagement photos like we’d planned. sometimes the journey doesn’t go the way you plan… but sometimes when you’re with the right people, that hardly seems to matter.
THANKS JENNA AND RYAN! YOU TWO ARE CHAMPS!
