long before i became a photographer, geography was always one of those subjects that i loved. so you can imagine how thrilled i am now to tell you about this wedding that started as a love story symbolized in geography.
while they were dating, Ken and Kaitlin would often cross the Delaware River, which (for those who don’t know) forms the border between Pennsylvania and New Jersey. it was with this symbolism in mind that they chose the towns of New Hope and Lambertville for their wedding. with both communities nestled along the river, they chose the Lambertville Station Inn for their reception with views of the New Hope and Lambertville bridge which crosses that river.
both Ken and Kaitlin started their day getting ready at the inn (on the Lambertville, NJ side) and as we were drove across the bridge into Pennsylvania where their ceremony would take place at Trinity Episcopal Church in Solebury, it donned on me that the next time Ken and Kaitlin made that crossing it would be as a married couple. it was a simple but profound thought. so much of geography is really just lines drawn on a paper, or at most a physical boundary like a mountain, canyon, or river. love compels us to cross boundaries.. and how for Ken and Kaitlin that crossing signified a change in their lives for the better– a true fairy tale ending.
