ANNE + PATRICK | BACKYARD MICRO WEDDING

i’ve always appreciated elopements. i’ve gotten the pleasure of photographing a number of them over the years, along with smaller and more intimate weddings, and i think that the thing i appreciate most about them, is how the feelings and emotions of a wedding are distilled down into something that is authentic and beautiful.

like many couples lately, Anne and Patrick’s original wedding date had to be put on hold due to the global pandemic and the risks of Covid-19. while they had originally planned a larger wedding in New Hope, they opted to go ahead and tie the knot in an intimate backyard ceremony instead. through all the changes, they didn’t let it dull their shine. these two, surrounded by their closest loved ones, created a beautiful space for themselves to commit their lives to one another.

the day was filled with some familiar traditions (they decided on having a first look and a first dance), as well as some traditions that were completely new to me (Guatemalan cascarones, which are eggs filled with colorful confetti). what was certainly familiar was the looks, words, and gestures of love that Anne and Patrick shared for one another. as a wedding, elopement, and yes, even backyard wedding photographer, i always consider it an honor to witness and capture that love for them to cherish.
