DAN + BRIAN | PORTLAND HEAD LIGHT ENGAGEMENT

I want to share with you one of the most exciting parts of being a photographer– shooting proposals. Sure, it’s fun getting to live out my best detective and secret agent fantasies as I pretend to be a tourist or passerby taking pictures of the landscape, while I constantly scope the horizon for my target. More seriously though, I’ve gotten the pleasure over the years to capture many a tearful yes, and it is always such a huge honor to be a part of. The moment when one partner drops to a knee or finally pops the question, the look of utterly surprised joy on the other’s face– it’s something really very magical. These are huge important life moments, and I am always so grateful to be asked to photograph and tell the story of them.

Dan and Brian’s proposal and engagement photos at Portland Head Light in Cape Elizabeth is easily going down as one of my favorite proposals ever. Not only is it always such a joy getting to photograph other gay and queer couples, but we also got the benefit of a beautiful snow throughout their session. Snowy lighthouse engagement photos was not on my bucket list, but it definitely should have been. Maine is always beautiful, but it doesn’t always shine brightest in the winter. That said, it put its beauty on full display for this adorable couple, and I’m so thankful to have experienced it with them. Their love and joy around each other brought a beautiful warmth to a wintery day.

Congratulations, Dan and Brian, and thank you again for allowing me to capture this moment in your lives!
