it’s been years since JD and i have been friends on social media, but until recently we’d never actually met. thankfully, however, that’s all been remedied as JD reached out to me in January to schedule a portrait shoot. i’ve taken an interest recently in learning more about the concepts of fashion photography and implementing it into the types of work that i already do on a regular basis, so i was thrilled when JD agreed to attempt these types of shots. we planned an evening in Philadelphia’s Chinatown along with doing a bit more studio work back in New Hope.
what’s impressive to me is how in photography so much can be accomplished with so little. for instance, we didn’t have any stylists but instead decided to pool some of our favorite clothes together to make some new outfits and combinations. we had no assistants or any expensive lighting gear, so we got creative with a mix of natural light and also a pair of off-camera flashes. we had no celebrities, creative teams, or expensive sets… but we did have ourselves, a camera, and the drive to create something beautiful, fun, and awesome.
