there are some people who just seem to know what’s really important. at the end of the day, when we start picking apart the things that we don’t really need, we’re often left with what’s real and with that which adds meaning to our lives: relationships, memories, family, companionship, love. i recently was given the honor of photographing Lindsay and Peter’s wedding where from the small chair put out just for their son, Owen, to the image of Peter’s mother on his lapel… the details all hinted at what really mattered to this loving couple.
the cold rainy day was not what some might call ideal weather for wedding photography, and we had to fit our portraits in during a small window of time when the rain had let up. however, i think for Lindsay and Peter at Holly Hedge Estate in New Hope, they would have smiled through a hurricane. they were together with their loved ones, sharing memories, and making new ones. the emotions, tears, and laughs were all real– to photograph that is worth more than any sunset, it’s to photograph something true and something very very real.
