Nick and Kolbi were one of my favorite couples getting married this year even though our meeting came out of less than great circumstances. when a complication left them without a photographer a month before their wedding (according to them, his work wasn’t great to begin with) Nick reached out to me and thankfully for the both of us the date for their wedding was open on my calendar. we met for coffee and i have to admit the three of us hit it off right away. it really must have been providence that their first photographer fell through, because i couldn’t think of a more well-matched team. not only did they love the style of photos that i offered, but i could tell they were super appreciative of the warmth and easy-going nature that i usually bring to my clients’ days.
this wedding at Chimney Hill Estate outside Lambertville ended up being incredibly beautiful with an even more beautiful couple choosing to commit their lives to each other. i recently met with Nick and Kolbi at a local Irish pub in New Hope (once again, these two are just my speed) and they spoke about how much of a difference i (and my awesome second-photographer Sarah) had made to their day. apparently i was a hit not only with them, but also with their family, friends, and guests who all wanted to know more about the crazy lanky photographer cutting it up on the dance floor with the bride and the groom. having just seen the final images from their wedding they were simple beaming with joy– the appreciation and friendship in the pub that evening was tangible. this wedding really was the epitome of good fortune, and it really does fill my heart to know that when life sometimes hands you a bad situation the potential outcome for good far outweighs what you had only just settled on to begin with.
