i always get excited when couples admit that their wedding could be a little different. Whitley and Matt gave me the unique experience of shooting a Quaker wedding at the Plumstead Friends Meeting, and while it wasn’t my first wedding ceremony in this tradition, it was the first wedding where i was requested to shoot from outside the building where the ceremony was to take place. while many photographers might feel a bit daunted by this request, i actually enjoyed the challenge and really appreciated Whitley and Matt’s desire to keep their wedding space sacred.
i personally found such beauty in the soulful contemplation, quiet reflection, and communal openness of Matt and Whitley’s wedding ceremony. likewise i found the laughter and warmth of the reception at the Doylestown Inn to be a welcome compliment that fit Whitley and Matt’s fun personalities greatly (these two had me laughing so hard when i photographed their engagement photos in New Hope last year.)
there’s no wrong or right way to have a wedding… as long as it represents the couple. i think this did it– and just like these two lovebirds, their wedding was incredible.
